Priscilla Higuera
Immigration Attorney | Founder of Higuera Law
Deportation Defense • Immigration Detention • Asylum • Immigration Appeals
For immigration attorney Priscilla Higuera, deportation defense is more than a profession. It is a deeply personal commitment.
Having witnessed firsthand the profound impact that deportation can have on families, Priscilla understands that immigration proceedings are not simply legal matters. They can determine whether parents remain with their children, whether families stay together, and whether individuals can continue building their lives in the United States.
Those experiences helped shape her decision to dedicate her legal career to immigration law, with a particular focus on defending individuals facing deportation.
Today, as the founder of Higuera Law, Priscilla combines more than a decade of immigration litigation experience with a commitment to providing personalized, compassionate, and effective legal representation.
A Career Dedicated to Deportation Defense
Priscilla has practiced immigration law since 2015. She graduated from California Western School of Law in 2014, where she received multiple scholarships and earned Dean's List recognition.
She began her legal career at a large immigration law firm in San Francisco, where she practiced from 2015 to 2018. During that time, she gained experience representing individuals in complex immigration proceedings and developed a deep appreciation for the importance of individualized legal representation.
In 2018, Priscilla established Higuera Law with a clear vision: to create a boutique immigration practice where clients receive direct attention from the attorney responsible for their cases.
Deportation defense remains the heart of her practice.
Priscilla represents clients in removal proceedings before immigration courts throughout California, including San Diego, Otay Mesa, Adelanto, Imperial, Santa Ana, Concord, and San Francisco.
Her practice encompasses asylum, cancellation of removal, immigration detention and bond proceedings, protection under the Convention Against Torture, motions to reopen, and immigration appeals.
She also handles federal immigration litigation, including habeas corpus petitions and matters before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Experience in Complex Immigration Litigation
Priscilla's practice includes representing individuals in challenging immigration cases where the consequences of removal can be life-altering.
Her litigation experience includes:
-
Ninth Circuit Stays of Removal: Successfully obtaining stays of removal in matters before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
-
BIA Appeals: Obtaining remands from the Board of Immigration Appeals, allowing immigration matters to receive further consideration.
-
Convention Against Torture Protection: Successfully obtaining deferral of removal under the Convention Against Torture for clients facing serious risks of torture if returned to their countries.
-
Termination of Removal Proceedings: Successfully challenging improperly issued Notices to Appear and obtaining termination of proceedings for clients, including lawful permanent residents.
-
Immigration Detention and Deportation Defense: Representing individuals facing immigration detention, removal proceedings, and complex questions concerning their eligibility for relief.
These experiences inform her approach to every case: carefully examining the government's allegations, identifying available legal defenses, and developing individualized litigation strategies.
Past results do not guarantee similar outcomes in future cases.
A Different Kind of Attorney-Client Relationship
Before establishing Higuera Law, Priscilla worked in a large immigration firm and saw how clients could become frustrated or confused when their cases passed between multiple attorneys and staff members.
She founded her practice to offer a more personal alternative.
At Higuera Law, clients work directly with Priscilla—the attorney handling their case.
As a solo practitioner, she personally oversees legal strategy and representation rather than transferring clients between associates. She believes clients deserve to understand their legal options, receive clear communication, and know who is responsible for protecting their interests.
Maintaining a smaller practice also allows her to offer flexible payment arrangements and approach legal fees with an understanding of the financial pressures families may face during immigration proceedings.
Professional Recognition
Priscilla has been selected to the California Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers for four consecutive years: 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
In 2018, she received the Outstanding Volunteer Award from the Justice & Diversity Center of the Bar Association of San Francisco, recognizing her volunteer service through the Attorney of the Day program for detained and non-detained immigration court proceedings.
The award holds particular personal significance because it was presented to her by the late immigration attorney Valerie Zukin, whose dedication to immigrant representation Priscilla deeply admired.
Her professional work and advocacy have also been featured in media interviews and documentary productions.
A Commitment to Immigrant Communities
Priscilla's commitment to immigration law extends beyond her private practice.
Fluent in English and Spanish, she provides bilingual legal representation and communicates directly with clients in either language.
Her personal experiences have shaped her understanding of the challenges immigrant families face, reinforcing her belief that every client deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Beyond her private practice, Priscilla remains committed to volunteer work and pro bono legal representation.
For her, one of the most rewarding aspects of practicing immigration law is helping individuals overcome difficult legal challenges and giving families the opportunity to remain together.
